AEU Meeting Date 1 Feb 2023 Last Updated 5 Feb 2023
We were very fortunate to have this month’s session led by Thomas Möller (MVP 2007-2016). It was used to demonstrate the use of Javascript libraries to build state-of-the-art charts in Access.
Thomas has several websites including https://team-moeller.de/ and https://github.com/team-moeller/better-access-charts
Charting has long been considered a weakness in Access. The original 'classic charts' in Access date from the 1990s and can be difficult to use
A few years ago, Microsoft gave the charts in Access a facelift. They called it 'Modern Charts'.
In some ways this was a good start, but much more could still have been done to increase the power of Access charts.
In this presentation, Thomas demonstrated:
• How to get state-of-the-art charts (based on chart.js) running in Access
• The external dependencies and how they can be handled
• How the whole feature can be coded elegantly and clearly
